- In January, Amazon discontinued its fundraising for charities through AmazonSmile. For small charities such as us, this is quite a blow.
- Manchester Museum ran the DabHands exhibition, which had hands with sutgical conditions, after the drawings of Prof Sammut, embroidered on pieces of cloth and all of the placed on a large hand holding a needle. A write-up of the project and the exhibition was published online by one of the embroiderers.
- This years’ Journal of Hand Surgery Journal Prize goes to the team of Professor Furniss from Oxford, for their excellent paper ‘The association of bariatric surgery and Dupuytren’s disease: a propensity score-matched cohort study’. The paper is based on a large cohort study, and proves that weightloss can increase the risk of Dupuytren’s contracture.
- The Government changes the rules again for Dupuytren as Industrial Disease, so it will be even more unlikely they have to pay out to anyone. It was explained in an article online, published by North West Bylines.
