News items for 2025:
- The EU is starting fingerprinting visitors from third countries such as the UK, and we asked them how patients with advanced Dupuytren would be treated. Here is their reply:
“Thank you for contacting the Europe Direct Contact Centre.
The Entry/Exit Sytem (EES) will collect the fingerprints and facial image of travellers. It will take the four fingerprints of the index, middle finger, ring finger and little finger from the right hand where present, and otherwise from the left hand.
Individuals who are physically unable to provide fingerprints will be exempt from the requirement to do so.
If this is a temporary issue (for instance an injury), the traveller will need to provide fingerprints the next time they travel, if the injury is then healed.

europa.eu/ees_en “ - In July, a new group was started at FESSH, the Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand. It is the Dupuytren Disease Group, with Prof Ilse Degreef as chair. We hope this will result in more colalboration and discussions between surgeons, therapists and researchers.
- At the recent conference, the British Dupuytren Society was represented by Prof Furniss and Anna Schurer. Both gave a talk at the conference. Anna’s talk is available here.
- After a lot of stress while organising it, the 2025 Dupuytren Conference in Brussels, organised by the conference committee under expert leadership of Prof Ilse Degreef, was a great success. To see what it was about, here is a great video.
- Mr Neil Crossland, in his year as captain of the Nottingham Golf Club, has raised over £1,800 for us. A tremendous effort, and we are very grateful to him and all those at the golf club who contributed.
- The Society was asked to answer a few questions about Dupuytren’s when news of Sir Steve Redgrave having the condition became public. The interview was published in the Wales Online.
- Preparations for the 2025 Dupuytren Conference are ongoing.
