The following lists contain names and links to Doctors, Surgeons, Hospitals and Clinics providing different treatment options for Dupuytren’s and Ledderhose disease in the UK and ROI. These lists are not exclusive, just those that we are aware of.

For other parts of the world we have some names of doctors on this map. The map is made of doctors who attend conferences or publish articles and/ or who are recommended by patients or other doctors.

DUPUYTREN’S DISEASE

Surgery (fasciectomy)

Fasciectomy is available in most hospitals with an orthopedic or plastic surgery department. It is always good to make sure the surgeon is a member of the BSSH, which can be checked online. The list of surgeons and hospitals we have is by no means exclusive or an endorsement of any hospital or surgeon. A lot of places listed will offer more treatments than the one we have them listed under.

Surgeons or clinics

(N) Ireland

Co Dublin Mr Philip Grieve works in Blackrock Clinic, co Dublin. He performs needle fasciotomy and fasciectomy surgery.

In the Ulster Independent Clinic, Belfast Mr Kevin Herbert is a favourite of local musicians for hand surgeries.

Scotland

In Edinburgh  Mr Neil J Cahoon, and Ms Dominique Davidson, have a special interest in Dupuytren’s. They  work NHS and run a private hand and wrist service .

Fife near Edinburgh: Ms Jane McEachan offers treatment for Dupuytren’s and is very experienced in all aspects of the disease.

In Edinburgh and Livingstone Mr Wee Leon Lam treats Dupuytren and child patients, Ms Claire Simpson treats Dupuytren’s with surgery or PNF, and Ms Sally-Anne Philips is a hand surgeon with a special interest in Dupuytren’s.

In Glasgow Mr Mark Broadbent runs a specialist Hand Clinic.

In Dumfries and Galloway Mrs Amanda Hawkins is an orthopaedic surgeon who operates on Dupuytren’s, along with Ms Roshin Thomas.

In Aberdeen the Aberdeen Virtual Hand Clinic offers advise via internet connection for  patient, which is staffed by the people who perform the surgeries or hospital aftercare if it is needed. 

Aberdeen, NHS and private, Mr Jamil Ahmed offers surgery for Dupuytren’s contracture.

Wales

Mr Prash Jesudason is a hand surgeon in North Wales with considerable experience in  treating Dupuytren’s contracture.

Wales, Newport and Cardiff the Welsh Hand Clinic run by Mr Rogers.

Ms Louisa Banks is a consultant in Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales. She performs fasciectomy, dermofasciectomy and needle aponeurotomy.

Swansea, Morriston Hospital Mr Ian Josty treats Dupuytren’s.

Tyneside

In Newcastle upon Tyne Mr Richard Milner offers treatment for Dupuytren’s Contracture in the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

In the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead Mr John Harrison and Mr Jagannath Chakravarthy offer surgery for Dupuytren’s, under local anaesthetic where possible.

North West

The Cumbria Hand Surgery Service in Carlisle, led by Mr John Harrison and Mr Jagannath Chakravarthy, offers surgery for Dupuytren’s under local anaesthetic, and is accessible on the NHS.

In Salford and Manchester Mr Zaf Naqui offers needle release and surgery for Dupuytren’s Disease.

In Manchester Mr Andrew Fitzgerald offers surgery for Dupuytren’s contracture, both NHS and private.

Wrightington Hospital in Lancashire has a hand- and upper limb unit with specialists such as Mr M Hayton.

The Manchester Hand Clinic a private clinic run by consultants from nearby hospitals, such as Mr Lindsay Muir.

Mr Mike Hayton runs hand clinics private and in Wrightington Hospital on the NHS.

In Wythenshawe, South Manchester Ms Ladan Hajipour offers surgery and PNF treatment for Dupuytren’s Disease on the NHS, and in Cheadle and Wilmslow in a private practice setting.

In Wythenshawe Hospital and in Salford Royal Hospital Mr James D Bedford offers both PNF and surgery (including revision surgery for problem cases) on the NHS.

In Preston (Royal Preston, NHS)  and private in Preston and Bolton, Mr Anil Agarwal offers surgery for Dupuytren’s. He performs revision surgeries as well, and uses local anaesthetic techniques.

In Lancashire Mr Fizan Younis treats Dupuytren’s in his hand clinic.

Scotland

In the Beatson Centre in Glasgow patients from West Scotland can receive radiation treatment for Ledderhose (and Dupuytren’s). Clinicians are to contact Dr Schipani for more information. This is NHS treatment for patients living in their catchment area only. No private treatment is available.

England several locations

The Dupuytren’s Practice, Dr. Richard Shaffer offers only private radiotherapy treatment.

North West

Manchester- private only: the Christie Hospital, Richmond Oncology at BMI Alexandra and at the Wilmslow Hospital: Dr James Wylie has an interest in the treatment of Dupuytren’s Disease with radiotherapy (NHS funding is no longer available). 

West Midlands

East of England

Greater London

Cancer Centre London have Dupuytren’s specialists based in Wimbledon, London. Dr John Glees and his team provide the treatment, only private. They also treat Peyronie’s patients and Ledderhose.

Guy’s Hospital in London:  Dr Morris  is able to treat patients on the NHS. Private treatment is not provided. You need a referral, GP or hand surgeon.

Poole Hospital, (Dr Mike C Bayne (MCBA). This Hospital was the first in the UK to provide radiotherapy for Dupuytren’s on the NHS, and still treats patients privately, but no longer on the NHS.

Massage and physiotherapy
